The Great Migration is exactly what it sounds like; it was the migration of large numbers of African-Americans from southern states to northern states. This migration caused many changes in cities and is what created what is now the urban areas in cities. the migration of the African-Americans to the north is also one of the largest causes of the Harlem Renaissance.
